FAQ
Questions, answered
What makes Create Prosthetics different from a conventional prosthetist?

Most conventional prosthetics are fabricated using traditional methods designed to restore function and approximate biological appearance. We do both of those things — and then go further. Our 3D printing and bio-fabrication process allows us to build devices that are structurally precise, personally expressive, and delivered in an average of 14 days. You don't have to choose between a device that fits perfectly and one that looks like you.

Is a custom device covered by insurance?

In many cases, yes. Coverage depends on your insurer, your plan, and your clinical history — but we navigate the authorisation process alongside you. Our team handles documentation, prior authorisation requests, and appeals. Use our Insurance Navigator to understand your specific situation before you reach out.

How long does the process take from first consultation to delivery?

Our average delivery time from design approval to completed device is 14 days. The full process — from initial consultation through design development, fabrication, and fitting — typically runs three to four weeks. Complex cases or multi-component builds may take longer, and we'll give you a clear timeline from day one.

Do I need a referral from a doctor or prosthetist to work with you?

Not to start the conversation. You can reach out directly through our Start Your Design page and we'll help you figure out the right path. If your insurance requires a physician prescription or clinical referral for coverage, we'll walk you through exactly what's needed and work with your care team to get it in place.

Can clinicians and prosthetists refer patients directly?

Yes — and we make it as simple as possible. Our clinical referral portal gives prosthetists and physicians a direct line to our fabrication team. Submit a referral, receive a clinical quote within 48 hours, and track fabrication progress from day one. We treat every referring clinician as a long-term partner, not a one-time transaction.
